"Where Would We BE if They Were Still Here?" by Adrian Hernandez

Men like Martin Luther King, Gandhi, John Lennon and even Jesus spoke words so powerful they moved the people of there time, they started revolutions and changed the way people think. They all something in common that made their movement even stronger; they spoke to a group of oppressed people.

Martin Luther King Jr. spoke to his black brother and sisters who were being killed, beat up, and all around mistreated by the “white man.” Gandhi he spoke to his fellow Indian brothers and sisters who were being oppressed by the British forces who were occupying there land. And one of my favorite revolutionaries was John Lennon, he spoke to the world. He preached to a group of kids who were being sent off to war to fight a fight that was not there to fight.

They would speak words that there people can relate too. They spoke the truth that many were afraid to speak. They spoke of words everyone could believe in because these were things that were going on in there time, there culture, and there life. They talked about change a different way of life. These words were so powerful they would often open the eyes of men and women who didn’t believe. I guess you can say they saw the light, not light of God but the light of knowledge. A light they can follow out of the darkness of ignorance and lead them to a brighter future. Its sad to say these men aren’t around any more. It’s almost as though these kind of people aren’t around either. We would like to believe our politicians, men we elect to put in power are these kinds of people but everyday that light these great men once shined upon or world is getting dimmer and darker each day. Where would we be if they were still here?
